Dilla University (DU) is one of Ethiopian higher education institution focusing on applied sciences, with a strong emphasis on disciplines such as agriculture, natural resource management, health, and education sciences. With a vision to be a nationally competent and internationally recognized innovative university for societal transformation by 2030, DU is committed to pushing boundaries and fostering innovation in these crucial areas.
The Vice President’s Office of Research and Technology Transfer at DU plays a pivotal role in fulfilling the institution’s mission by promoting and enhancing problem solving researches, innovations, technology transfer and consultancy services that shall cater to the development needs of the society and policy imperatives of the country; Facilitating the commercialization of technologies for the benefit of the industry, the university and the public at large; and Providing innovative community services to the nearby communities of the university. Through its five directorates, including Research Publication, Ethics and Dissemination, Community Service and Engagement, University-Industry Linkage and Technology Transfer, Coffee Research and Training Institute, and Botanical and Eco-tourism Garden, the office facilitates impactful collaborations and initiatives.
By fostering collaboration between local and international researchers, we aim to generate valuable insights that can drive positive change and sustainable development in our communities. Through various outreach programs and initiatives, we work closely with local communities to address their needs and support their development. By connecting local industries with cutting-edge technologies and expertise, we aim to boost productivity, competitiveness, and market access for new start-up businesses. Through partnerships with coffee farmers, processors, suppliers, exporters, industry experts and researchers, we aim to promote best practices, innovation, and knowledge-sharing to ensure the continued success of Ethiopia’s coffee sector. We are also dedicated to creating world class Botanical and Ecotourism Garden that showcase the unique flora and fauna of our country while promoting conservation, research, education and sustainable eco-tourism practices.
